Heat shields come in circular and rectangular shapes and are used to protect vacuum system components (such as cryopumps) from radiated heat. Instead of the 5-bounce chevron design, these baffles have louvers which only block the line-of-site from the heat source. This allows greater conductance as compared to contamination trapping baffles.
